Individual Counseling

Therapy is a place you can clarify your thoughts, express your emotions, and gain a better understanding of yourself.  With the help of a professional counselor, you can explore options for resolving your problems as well as set up goals that align with your value system. Some choose individual counseling for help with improving communication, managing anger, or learning to cope with grief. Others benefit from developing skills to handle depression or anxiety and/or improve self-esteem and awareness.  Counselors can also educate the client on negative behavior patterns as well as work to develop healthy cognitive functioning.

Children & Teen Counseling

Several of our counselors have experience working with young people and we are happy to set up appointments for kids, ages 3 and up. Issues that may be addressed in counseling include, but are not limited to, opposition and defiance, substance abuse, grief therapy, overcoming symptoms of trauma, anger management, depression, following directions, promoting honesty and defeating patterns of dishonesty, anxiety (such as separation anxiety, social phobia, and generalized anxiety), decision making and problem solving skills, decreasing impulsivity, developing positive self esteem, coping with divorce, educating teens about the benefits of abstinence and the risks of being sexually active, stress management, and behavior modification.

Pre-Marital & Marriage Counseling

Pre-marital: Most couples want to begin their marriage with effective tools to equip them for a successful future. The problem is it’s often difficult to know where to start. That’s why we guide couples through some of the typical obstacles, addressing red flags, and determining compatibility through the counseling process. We want to help you prepare for the sacred journey of marriage.

Taking a proactive approach to potential problem areas within your commited relationship is a wise investment.

In addition, we have a Prepare & Enrich certified counselor on staff who offers a customized assessment completed online that identifies a couple's strength and growth areas. It is one of the most widely used programs for premarital counseling and premarital education. Based on a couple's assessment results, our trained facilitator provides 4-5 feedback sessions in which the facilitator helps the couple discuss and understand their results as they are taught proven relationship skills.

Marriage: Relationships take work (understatement of the century!). Since we were once individuals who have joined to become one flesh, it is a daily task to die to ourselves in order to promote unity in our marriage.  Unfortunately, there are plenty of obstacles that can be a threat to your relationship such as technology, work, and finances.  With the help of a professional counselor, you and your spouse can work on things such as improving communication and fostering intimacy.  In this process, couples are often able to unearth individual imperfections, discuss realistic expectations and design goals with your partner in hopes of building a God-honoring union.

Telephone or Video Skype Counseling

Christian Counseling Professionals now offers clients the option to receive counseling services from the comfort of their homes or offices.  For clients who live out of town or have complex schedules, phone or skype counseling offers clients convenience, comfort, and anonymity without the added expense and time of travel to and from our office.  While this service offers clients more freedom of scheduling, it may not be appropriate for those who struggle with communication or who are experiencing a crisis situation.
